Ive got Panda Anti Virus 2007 on my machine and have to buy a licence in January 07. I read that Windows in-built firewall isnt that good and so should I fork out more to get the Panda Anti Virus 2007 and Firewall or not?

i would get a firewall and not depend on windows as it is not that great, there are various free firewalls and some pay ones also.
zonealarm is the best firewall it has a free version and a pay version, it has firewall, anti-spyware , also anti-virus (etrust)in the pay versions

Much better is AVG Anti-Virus and ZoneAlarm Firewall - Both FREE

You heard correctly that Windows Firewall is not good. Windows Firewall only monitors incoming connections and ignores all outgoing traffic unlike other software firewalls.
