My new 4 week old boy was in a Panda bear cage but his momma was all black with perhaps a tad of white on her belly, I didn't really check, and he's black with literally two spots of white...One over his heart, and one between his legs. Anyway, I was wondering what the differences between Panda's and Black's are (if any) or if they are more or less the exact same thing. Also on the receipt it says "Netherlands Black Hamster" soo yeah. lol. He was labelled Panda so I'm not sure. Any ideas?

The life span / expectancy of the Syrian is around 2 - 2 half years, I have had them as long as 3 and a half, but that鈥檚 the exception.
Friendliness; This depends entirely on how they were bred, and who bred them. If he was bred with a 鈥済ood鈥?temperament then you have got your self a friendly hamster. The personality comes later, as each one will develop his own unique personality.
If you can pick him up now without him attempting to bite you, then he has a good temperament, and he will tame up very quickly.
